Organization Description
CIVS Kenya is a community development organization fighting poverty since 1997 through various Volunteering and Community Development programs in Kenya.
Volunteering with CIVS Kenya provides you with the chance to share your skills and make a difference. Join our Short Term, Long Term and weltwärts volunteer projects.

Our Short-Term Programs (Workcamps) are perfect for people who only have little time for volunteering or don’t have the resources for a long-term stay but want to do something beyond just traveling. It is an interesting and meaningful way to travel with purpose and spend 2-3 weeks in a foreign environment. The Workcamps are made up of 8-20 people from different countries. They work together towards a certain aim, like building a fish-pond, constructing a new schoolroom or raising awareness about a certain topics, like HIV/AIDS. A short orientation session is given to the volunteers before the project begins to help them get acquainted with the project aims, the host organization, the local customs and culture. Participating in a short term program has many benefits. Working and living together with other volunteers from around the world provides an excellent opportunity to make many new friends, learn about unknown places and cultures, and gain new skills and experience while making a difference in areas where help is really needed.
You can also join our Long Term Volunteer Projects depending for any time between 1-12 months. These projects are a non-formal international learning experience which help to develop a volunteer’s sensitivity towards social and cultural differences, build self-confidence and improve your problem solving ability. Long term volunteering is individual rather than in groups. You are immersed in the local culture to a much greater extent allowing you to integrate better with the local community and actually become part of it. Over time you can learn the local language, make friends and better understand the needs and problems of the locals. This enables you to take a more active role in the running of the project by implementing their own ideas for accomplishment of better outcomes. All programs are organized in cooperation with our local partners.
