Organization Description
Butterfly Space is a community based social business that concentrates on children & youth education and opportunites, social and environment sustainability with its projects, and our projects are diverse in nature.

These diverse projects reflect the needs of our local community with each one set up with our community at the heart of it. By creating these strong links with our community, we have built a solid foundation built on trust and respect. We support our volunteers to get involved in areas that their skills and passions lie and we are also able to provide access to local groups and our own community projects, including a nursery school, primary school, information room, media centre, radio initiative, youth club, nutrition workshops, sports teams, playgrounds, school gardens, and environmental projects.

As we are involved in such a diverse range of projects, we strongly encourage you to take a look at our website,, where you will find more information on the 15 projects Butterfly Space are involved in. You can also send us any queries using our contact form and we will respond to your query asap

We found Butterfly Space whilst staying in town in Nkhata Bay, we went along to enquire and were so impressed by AJ and the projects going on there that we decided to return after our travels further North to volunteer. Volunteering is free, and you get 50% off your accommodation bill at the lodge - we stayed in a gorgeous chalet with a double bed over-looking the lake, you can camp as well. You will meet amazing people here, and walk away not wanting to go home - as this is really a place that the volunteers call home!
