Organization Description
Blue Lagoon Volunteering is a non-profit, non-governmental organization operation under the laws here in Peru. We have our residence housing, our English school and an eco-jungle farm. Volunteers are encouraged to stay at least one month but a three to six month service is recommended. You will only be asked to volunteer your time 5 hours per day 5 days a week because we have experienced the best results when volunteers have time to explore the endless beauties of the Blue Lagoon and its surrounding area. You will be given a private room and live with myself and my Peruvian wife in our river house minutes from the lagoon. You will be served 2 authentic Peruvian meals per day and have full kitchen privileges. Our home is one of the very few in this pueblo with hot water and internet. You will be provided with unlimited access to natural resources in the area and can obtain a wealth of information about how to grow and cultivate medicinal plants as well as tropical fruits and trees. You will also have access to our English as a Second Language Students within the community and have the opportunity to study Spanish as well. Myself-the director has a PhD. in Psychology and a Master’s in Education and am personally at your service during our entire stay. Recreational activities include horseback riding, swimming, hiking, soccer, volleyball, visiting the various waterfalls, fishing, camping, boating, bird watching, butterfly collecting, kayaking, and much more.

I am currently volunteering with Blue Lagoon Volunteering. My experience has been great. This part of the Amazon Jungle makes me feel like I have gone back in time to a less modernized world. I am working on the Eco-Farm and learing much about tropical plants and fruits and working with a variety of animals. I am also looking forward to having four English as a Second Language students starting next week. This will help me continue to increase my English Skills while helping others.
